About Prescriptions

Filling a new prescription with Canada Meds is convenient, private and secure. The first step is to determine which kind of new prescription you need to fill. Here are some options:

New Customer – New Prescription

When filling a new prescription for the first time online, we ask you for information about yourself, your doctor, and whether you will be using insurance. Next you will be prompted to select your medication either by searching by name or browsing the A-Z index. Once you have added the prescription to your cart, finished shopping and checked out, we’ll call your doctor to obtain your prescription (or you can mail it to us). Then we will submit the claim to your insurance (if selected), and deliver your prescription to you.

Existing Customer – New Prescription

Once your Patient Profile has been set up, it can be used to fill multiple prescriptions. Any time you add a prescription to your cart, you will be prompted to “Select a Patient” from a list or “Create a New Patient Profile”. Next, verify the information on the “Prescription Review” page. You may need to add a new Doctor or insurance plan depending on the prescription, prior to checking out.

Price Quotes

Some shoppers may prefer to check prices prior to starting the process. You may either search by name or browse the A-Z index to find your prescription price list. Then just add the prescription to your cart, follow the steps, and proceed to checkout.

Specialty/Compound Prescriptions

If compound medications are what you need, just describe what the medication is prescribed to treat, follow the steps, and proceed to checkout.

Transfer Prescriptions

When transferring a prescription to Familymeds from any other retail or online pharmacy, just provide information about the prescription and the transferring pharmacy, then follow the steps, and proceed to checkout.

Note: When checking out, the prescription price will be displayed as “TBD” until after the prescription has been confirmed by your doctor, then submitted to your insurance plan. Following this process, the confirmed cost of your prescription will be charged to your credit card
